...they are gone. When scouting this area just 1.5 years after I took this photo, I was trying to recognize these trees among the others. Finally, I realized that there were only two of them left.
Boneyard beaches like this one in South Carolina completely change their appearance during low and high tides. They also become completely impassable during high tide. After all, the dead trees “grow” exactly where the beach gets flooded and exposed twice a day.
A very special and intimate combination of colors during a high-tide sunrise at Edisto Beach.
Driving with one headlight broken could be dangerous. But at least it could give a nice effect if you accidentally ended up being photographed.
While a long exposure during high tide can create the effect of thick fog instead of water, a long exposure during low tide turns the sand into a magical mirror.

Something that often irritates me about American parks is that many of them have opening hours between sunrise and sunset, which hinders photo opportunities for people trying to aim at the precious blue or golden hours. After sitting in front of the closed gates for thirty minutes, I almost gave up on any chances to photograph that morning. Luckily, the stormy clouds meant the best time for pictures was after sunrise.
It took me more than two years to get around to processing this photo. I love the feeling of discovering an initially underrated photo and turning it into something special.
The beginning of a new day brings a sense of life to this somewhat apocalyptic location.
I was extremely lucky to spend three mornings on this beach around Christmas time, with each morning bringing amazing sunrises and the entire beach all to myself.
