About myself

It all began when I was twenty, back in Ukraine, the beautiful country where I grew up. By "it," I’m referring to the dual process of expanding my view of the world around me.

It was there that I first picked up my father's Zenit film camera and began peering through its viewfinder, trying to leave everything unnecessary out of the frame and capture the essence of each place and moment. It was also where I embarked on my first outdoor adventures—kayaking in the Kharkiv region, backpacking in the Carpathians, mountain climbing in Crimea... These experiences revealed new perspectives on life and deepened my appreciation for the world we live in. It's no surprise that landscape photography quickly became my favorite genre.

The story took a new turn when, a few years later, I moved to the United States. Some things changed, while others stayed the same. I began exploring the diverse landscapes of America's national parks—stargazing in South Dakota, feeling the icy winds of Alaska's glaciers, and listening to the soothing waterfalls in Pennsylvania. My two passions merged, creating a blend I'm excited to share with you today. I started using my camera more frequently, putting more effort into the process. Though it remains a hobby, I now often plan my trips with the goal of experiencing nature in new ways and, when I’m lucky, capturing those moments to preserve them beyond just memories.

About elements of nature

It might be somewhat surprising that so many ancient philosophies from around the world independently arrived at the idea of using five elements to describe the complexity of nature and its various aspects. Without aligning with any particular philosophy or mythology, I just found it intriguing to organize my humble collection of works based on the elements of nature.

About how to make this world better

Ukraine, the country that has given me so much, has been going through difficult times lately. We all have the power to make a difference and help those in need. If you'd like to purchase a print of any of my works, please contact me, and I'll donate all profits to one of the many humanitarian projects supporting the people of Ukraine in their fight for freedom.
